| Re-issued in collaboration with the Blackhawk Automobile Museum, the Pebble Beach Concours Poster Collection evokes memories of this world-renowned automobile venue. Beginning in 1950 the Pebble Beach Concours d' Elegance was held free of charge on Saturday on the grounds of the Del Monte Lodge with the Race on Sunday along the fabled “Seventeen Mile Drive” with a one dollar admission. | Won in 1950 by Phil Hill in a Jaguar XK120, this race along a 1.8-mile course of narrow tree-lined roadway, continued to attract world-class drivers until its demise due to the death of driver Ed McAffe in 1956. This poster collection represents the Race and Concours from 1950 to 1956, and the Concours, that continues the tradition today, from 1966 to 1996. |
